What is customs clearance?

Customs clearance is a set of legal and administrative procedures carried out when goods are imported or exported through a country's border crossings, whether seaports, airports, or land ports. These procedures aim to ensure that goods comply with applicable regulations, collect due duties and taxes, and prevent the entry or exit of prohibited or illegal materials. This process is typically handled by an official body, such as the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or the Egyptian Customs Authority in the Arab Republic of Egypt, as these entities work to regulate trade and protect the national economy.
